William “BJ” Moore’s legal career is a tale of two distinct chapters that perfectly complement each other. In the first chapter, he refined his skills as a litigator, passionately representing clients in a diversity of complex business disputes. His experience as a Shareholder at a regional law firm gave him invaluable courtroom experience and a deep understanding of the legal landscape.
Transitioning to the second chapter, BJ shifted gears and became General Counsel for a successful woman-owned mechanical construction and service company. This shift provided him with a unique, inside look at how businesses truly operate. He learned that legal counsel should be a valuable partner that enables businesses growth, success, and innovation, not be a roadblock or hurdle.
Now, at Platt Richmond, BJ draws on both chapters of his career. In particular, he helps entrepreneurs and businesses navigate legal challenges with a holistic approach, always keeping their business goals in mind while mitigating risks. In this capacity, he gives companies the ability to have in-house assistance and expertise while operating as outside counsel.
BJ’s military background – his father retired from the Air Force, and he served as a Cavalry Scout in the U.S. Army himself – instilled in him discipline and a strong work ethic. These traits helped him pay his way through Auburn University and SMU Dedman School of Law by working various jobs to survive, including—to name a few—being a gas-station attendant, valet, bellman, waiter, apartment-complex groundskeeper, private investigator, and handling crowd control at Walt Disney World.
Joining Platt Richmond is a perfect fit for BJ. He values the firm’s emphasis on hard work, teamwork, and dynamic growth. Platt Richmond’s commitment to being more than just a law firm—striving to be a meaningful partner to its clients—resonates deeply with BJ. Specifically, it enables him to pursue the “second half” or “second mountain” of his life by contributing to a team that shares the same philosophy and commitment to the practice of law and clients as him.
