Steven’s practice focuses on representing local, regional, and national commercial clients on matters relating to real estate, land use/zoning, and construction. Beginning with site selection and continuing throughout the construction, lease-up, and ultimate sale of the project after final completion, Steven deals heavily with all aspects of real estate development. Steven was previously a partner at one of the largest law firms in Texas. However, he moved to Platt Richmond to partner with other ex-big law attorneys to continue to provide high quality service while being more cost effective for his clients.
Steven represents clients in connection with the acquisition, development, and sale of various asset types across the country, including industrial, office, retail, and multifamily. This representation includes negotiation of purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, development agreements, and property management agreements.
Steven also helps landlords and tenants negotiate commercial leases, including mid-level and high-rise office leasing, retail strip-centers, and industrial leasing from single-tenant parcels to large multi-tenant industrial parks.
In addition to his leasing practice, Steven also represents clients throughout the zoning and planning process. As a former litigator, he uses his experience to advocate for real estate developers and property owners on a variety of land use issues, including zoning changes, specific use permits, abandonments, annexation, signage, permitting, and planned development districts.
He also has extensive experience negotiating and drafting construction contracts for developers, general contractors, and subcontractors to allow them to minimize risk exposure before starting a construction project.
